RED CARPET HITS AND MISSES

AT THE 83RD ACADEMY AWARDS, RED REIGNED SUPREME ON THE RED CARPET.
YOU CAN SAY GOODBYE TO BLACK, AND
THE BOLD SHOULDER IS STILL A STANDOUT STYLE STATEMENT AND MAJOR HOLLYWOOD HOTTIES ARE MARKING THE MOST OUT OF METALLICS.
*
HERE ARE THE LOOKS OF MY SUPER-STAR STUNNERS:

HALLE BERRY
WELCOME HOME!! WE CAN FINALLY FORGIVE YOU FOR THAT NINA RICCI “SLIP” YOU WORE AT THE GOLDEN GLOBES THIS YEAR...

MY GIRL, HALLE DEFINITELY REDEEMED HERSELF SELF BY SHOWING OFF HER FLAWLESS FIGURE IN A NUDE, CRYSTAL ENCRUSTED MARCHESSA GOWN WITH A ROMANTIC RUFFLED TRAIN AND 10 CARAT NEIL LANE EARRINGS. AH-MAY-ZEEEEEEENG!!

 GWYNETH PALTROW

THE COUNTRY STRONG STAR WOWED ON THE RED IN A FABULOUS, FLUID METALLIC CALVIN KLEIN COLUMN DRESS WITH BRIAN ATWOOD PUMPS AND SLEEK, STRAIGHT HAIR.

SHE FINISHED OFF HER LOOK WITH JEWELS  BY LOUIS VUITTON.

 HILARY SWANK

THIS OSCAR WINNER TRULY LIVED UP TO HER NAME... IN A SWANKY STRAPLESS, SILVER SEQUINED GUCCI PREMIER GOWN WITH A FABULOUS OMBRE FEATHERED TRAIN, METALLIC CLUTCH AND JEWELS BY ANNA HU.

SHE EVEN PINNED BROACHES IN HER SLEEK UP-DO HAIR, MAKING THIS MY FAVORITE EXIT STATEMENT OF THE NIGHT.

 MICHELLE WILLIAMS

THE OSCAR NOMINEE IS ONCE AGAIN PROVES THAT LESS IS SO MUCH MORE... AS SHE REMAINS TRUE TO HER VINTAGE STYLE IN THIS VERY CHIC SHORT SLEEVED EMBROIDERED CHANEL HAUTE COUTURE GOWN WITH HARRY WINSTON JEWELS AND JIMMY CHOO PUMPS.

THE MAKEUP WAS LIGHT, FLAWLESS AND FRESH. A PERFECT RED CARPET MOMENT.

SANDRA BULLOCK

STATUESQUE. STUNNING. STRIKING. A TRUE MOVIE STAR IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD...

SANDY SHINED IN A STRAPLESS, SCARLET VERA WANG GOWN, CRIMSON CLUTCH AND HARRY WINSTON JEWELS. PERFECT.

HAILEE STEINFELD

THIS ADORABLE OSCAR NOMINEE MADE THE MOST OF HER FIRST OSCAR RED CARPET WALK, BY ACTUALLY HELPING TO DESIGN HER CUSTOM MADE, TEA-LENGTH MARCHESSA PRINCESS GOWN, EMBROIDERED WITH BEAUTIFUL CRYSTALS.

SHE THEN FINISHES OFF THE LOOK WITH AN ELABORATE UP-DO AND HEAD-BAND, FRED LEIGHTON JEWELS, FERRAGAMO CLUTCH AND NUDE PEEP TOE, DOUBLE PLATFORM PUMPS.

IT’S ALL AGE APPROPRIATE AND PERFECT AS A PRINCESS.

THAT WAS THE GOOD AND WHAT WOULD THE RED CARPET BE WITHOUT SOME.... WELL, YOU KNOW, “BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME” STYLE MISSES:

 AMY ADAMS

AMY ADAMS DEFINITELY LOST THE FIGHT IN THIS GLITTERY BLUE L' WREN SCOTT CAPPED SLEEVED GOWN AND MISMATCHED CARTIER JEWELS. TOO MUCH DRESS AND NOT ENOUGH AMY.

NICOLE KIDMAN

FOR HER RED CARPET WALK, THE OSCAR NOMINEE CHOSE A STRAPLESS, EMBELLISHED, WHITE DIOR HAUTE COUTURE GOWN WITH A SIMPLE UP-DO AND 150 CARAT FRED LEIGHTON CHOKER AND BRIGHT RED PIERRE HARDY PUMPS.

I LOVER HER PASSION FOR FASHION BUT THIS GOWN GAVE THE STUNNING BEAUTY - "BATTLESHIP-HIPS".  JUST SAYING...
SCARLETT JOHANSSON

SCARLETT’S WORKING THE RED IN A BURGUNDY LACE, BACKLESS DRESS BY DOLCE AND GABANNA .

SHE WENT WITH A LOSE, MODERN SHAG AND JEWELS BY ANNA HU.

SHE ACTUALLY JUST CHOSE THIS DRESS AT THE LAST MINUTE AND I’M JUST WISHING SHE WOULD HAVE MADE ANOTHER CHOSE OR HAD MORE THAN A MINUTE TO PICK THIS BURGUNDY DOILIE.

 PENELOPE CRUZ
THE SUPER SEXY OSCAR WINNER CHOSE A RICH RED, PLUNGING NECK GOWN BY L 'WREN SCOTT WITH SEQUINED FLAMED ACCENTS AND CHOPARD JEWELS.

YES, THIS NEW MOM’S BODY IS SMOKING HOT AFTER BABY, BUT THE DRESS IS ACTUALLY GOING UP IN FLAMES....

CATE BLANCHETTE
MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL, WHO’S WEARING THE WEIRDEST DRESS OF ALL? IT’S OSCAR WINNER, CATE BLANCHETTE !!

SHE WALKS THE CARPET IN AN ELABORATELY BEADED AND PLEATED LILAC GIVENCHY HAUTE COUTURE GOWN BY RICHARD TISCI WITH UNEXPECTED YELLOW ACCENTS.

THE GOWN IS FROM GIVENCHY’S SPRING 2011 COLLECTION BUT LOOKS MORE LIKE A SET PIECE FROM THE BUS AND TRUCK TOUR OF “BEAUTY AND THE BEAST”.

Working the red carpet with my friend , fashionista and reporter Richard Reid.

Here's the one who stole my heart at the Golden Globes this year... the stunning Piper Perabo in Oscar de la Renta. Not only is she stunning, but her beauty definitely comes from within. 3 words: I LOVE HER!! :)

Nothing puts a smile on my face better than standing next to one my favorite beauties, Nancy O'Dell.

Gold & Aubergine: Loving Lara Spencer.

A little red carpet lovin with Oscar nominated actress, Gabourey Sidibe. She's the absolute sweetest and was having the best time!!

2011 GOLDEN GLOBE FASHION - THE LATEST ... & GREATEST?

THE GOLDEN GLOBE RED CARPET DELIVERED GORGEOUS GOWNS IN AN EXCITEMENT OF COLOR, BEAUTIFUL BEADING AND TERRIFIC TEXTURES.

LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT THOSE LADIES WHO HIT A HIGH NOTE!

1. CARRIE UNDERWOOD

COUNTRY CUTIE, CARRIE UNDERWOOD WENT FOR GLAM AND GLITTER IN A STUNNING, STRAPLESS SWEETHEART SILHOUETTE BADGLEY MISCKA GOWN.  THIS RAY OF SUNSHINE FINISHED OFF HER LOOK WITH A SWAROVSKI BLUSH METALLIC CLUTCH, BRIAN ATWOOD SHOES AND JOHNATHON ARNDT ACCESSORIES.

2. OLIVIA WILDE

OLIVIA WILDE SHOWED UP AS A MODERN DAY PRINCESS IN A FROTHY CHOCOLATE BROWN MARCHESA SLEEVELESS BALL GOWN WITH GOLD SEQUINS THAT SPARKLED AND SHINED AS SHE GLIDED DOWS THE RED CARPET.  HER CHRISTIAN LOUBOUITINS AND SEXY STRAIGHT HAIR WERE PICTURE PERFECT.  EFFORTLESS ELEGANCE.

3.  HAILEE STEINFELD

FOR HER FIRST RED CARPET WALK, THIS 14 YEAR OLD TRUE GRIT STAR WAS TRUE GLAMOUR IN A WINTER WHITE - PRABAL GARUNG - DRESS, AMANDA PEARL CLUTCH, NUDE SATIN PEEP TOE PUMPS FROM FERRAGAMO AND CHIC TIFFANY AND COMPANY JEWELS.  THE LOOK WAS YOUNG, FRESH AND FABULOUS.

4.  PIPER PERABO

PIPER LOOKED LIKED RED CARPET ROYALTY IN THIS EXQUISITE, FORM FITTING ONE SHOULDER, BOW - ADORNED, BLACK OSCAR DE LA RENTA FISHTAIL GOWN.  HER HAIR WAS SLEEK AND ELEGANT AND THE PERFECT FINISH WAS HER RED STAINED LIP.  THE JEWELS WERE SIMPLE AND ELEGANT.

5.  ANNE HATHAWAY

SET TO HOST THE 2011 OSCARS AND PLAY SELINA KYLE IN THE NEXT BATMAN FLICK, THIS BEAUTY ONCE AGAIN SHOWED UP LOOKING EVERY BIT A MOVIE STAR IN A SEXY, FORM-FITTING AMBER TONED, ARMANI PRIVE GOWN - FULLY EMBELLISHED WITH PALETTES AND SWAROVSKI CRYSTALS.  HER BEST ACCESSORY WAS HER BACK - AND SHE CHOSE VINTAGE VAN CLEEF AND ARPEL JEWELS TO FINISH THE LOOK.

6.  JENNIFER LAWRENCE (THE ONE TO WATCH OUT FOR...)

WINTER'S BONE, JENNIFER LAWRENCE IS DEFINITELY THE ONE TO WATCH OUT FOR ON THE RED CARPET THIS YEAR... AT 20 YEARS OLD, EVERYTHING SHE DID WAS RIGHT - IN CHOOSING THIS FLAMENCO INSPIRED -  RUFFLED AND CORSETED LOUIS VUITTON DRESS WITH CHOPARD EMERALD EARRINGS, ROGER VIVIER SHOES AND A JUDITH LEIBER BAG.  THE LOOK WAS FUN, FLIRTY, EDGY AND AGE APPROPRIATE.

OFF KEY STYLES:

1.  LEIGHTON MEESTER

THE COUNTRY STRONG STAR  TOTALLY HIT THE WRONG NOTE IN THIS NUDE - CREPON PRINT RUCHED CRESCENT DRESS - FROM THE PRE-FALL 2011 BURBERRY PRORSUM COLLECTION.  THE LOOK WAS TOO OLD AND WASHED OUT.  I THINK SHE LOOKED GOOD FROM THE NECK UP AND THE ANKLES DOWN.

2. HALLE BERRY

BEAUTIFUL? YES. BUT, HALLE BERRY WALKED THE RED IN A DISAPPOINTING BLACK CORSETED NINA RICCI MINI DRESS WITH A SHEER OVERLAY AND STACKED HARRY WINSTON BRACELETS.  HER BODY WAS ROCKING, BUT THE LOOK FELT DATED AND DONE.

3.  JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT

THE 31-YEAR-OLD ACTRESS WORE AN ICE BLUE  RAMONA KEVEZA DRESS WITH CASADEI SHOES. SHE ALSO ADDED A JENNIFER BEHR BELT, A SANG A CLUTCH, THREE LE VIAN RINGS AND BRACELET.  TOO, TOO MUCH, FROM THE HAIR, TO THE BELT TO THE BUILT IN FOOD CATCHER!!

4.  HELENA BONHAM CARTER

ONE TO NEVER DISAPPOINT, HELENA TWIRLED DOWN THE RED CARPET IN PLUNGING MULITI COLORED VIVIENNE WESTWOOD DRESS, MISMATCHED SHOES AND A BIRDS NEST FOR HAIR.  POINTS FOR STICKING TO HER STYLE, BUT ... REALLY?!
5.  JULIANNE MOORE

THE KIDS MIGHT BE ALRIGHT, BUT YOUR STYLIST ISN'T...  JULIANNE SHOWED UP IN THIS ONE SHOULDER, ILL-FITTED LANVIN CREATION THAT LOOKED LIKE A HOT PINK MESS.  JUST TOO MUCH.

BUT WAIT...
THERE'S MORE!
KEEP CHECKING MY BLOG FOR MY PERSONAL 2011 GOLDEN GLOBE PHOTO ALBUM! (BUT HERE'S A SNEAK PEEK...)
: )
lz

My new Red Carpet BFF, Kailey Cuoco from THE BIG BANG THEORY!
